I have studied Amharic script, decades ago, but this looks "off". I think it's possibly from a neighbouring state but written in the local variation of Ge'ez script. Report this Post to the Staff

The images in both auctions look uncomfortably alike. Perhaps it isn't real, although of course I hope it is a real coin. re: alganbagerap Please let me know if it triggers any memories that could help me identify it. Even if it isn't what I thought it was, it is still interesting as long as it is a genuine whatever it is. re: echizento Thanks. One thing I wondered about was if it really was "rare" (since there can't really be as many "rare" coins as sellers seem to think) or if it was really old, if it should be where everyone could enjoy it. That's what I'm worried about now. If you look at the two completed auctions, you'll see they ended with different numbers of bidders, and different ending prices. It can't be a resale of a returned item because the auctions ended on the same day 16 minutes apart. They are clearly the same coin, or copies of the same coin. They even look like the same picture! Edit: It is the same picture.
