I have seen this once before on an 1838 Charlotte Mint $5 gold piece. Ignoring the color I agree with Coin Frog that it looks like a Choice AU, but that color is hard for me to fathom. I passed on that 1838-C half eagle (Which is a very scarce coin.) for just that reason. Report this Post to the Staff
