Seller claims there is a 1992 Close AM in this three-coin lot. Personally, I don't see it. What do you all think?

I don't think so either.

Notice how seller gives your clear pictures of the WAMS, but the one that looks like the CAM is blurry. Something fishy going on here.

The giveaways are the A in STATES and the serifs on the G in FG which are pretty clear on all of them

MINE! Kidding. I don't see it either. The STATES and FGs all say WAM. The middle coin does look on the close side, but only when viewing the AM portion. Maybe a die crack or (intentional) hit to the left leg of the M that makes the gap seem smaller than it is.

Will you be reporting this one, or shall I?
Rest in Peace

I was trying to check the FG's, could get it clear enough once it was enlarged, not hard to slip another 1993 in one's place.

Just love this fellows other "items"
$1 Star note $1.53
$20 1950 for $100
His only real one is an off print $10, but it's a rag

His name is tfinger, think that's just what he's giving!

I checked out his "sold" listings too - nothing. He has one "completed" listing - a canceled auction for a nine coin lot of 1964 JFK halves. I bet he got nervous that his $10 start price was too low and bailed.

Even with my bad eyes I could tell by the A in states...i agree the middle one looks closer but not CAM close.

About the FG I am always confused on what to look for here. It is so small and my eyes are so bad I have a really hard time seeing a difference in these.

I guess both or all of us would be more effective. But maybe Bobby could take a look? I believe this is a violation.

I messaged the seller just as a courtesy but, I seriously doubt anything will come of that.

The FG on CAM cents has no serif on the G, while the FG on WAM cents does. This is the cross bar on the G. Another thing to look at is the placement of the FG. On WAM cents, the FG is closer to the memorial. On CAM cents, the gap between the FG and the memorial is a bit larger. On a CAM cent, there is enough room to fit another F between the FG and memorial. On a WAM cent, you would not be able to fit in an entire F.

Here's a pic I stole from Thulium regarding the FG placement and style difference from this thread:

Edit: to clarify, the image shows proofs but the same attributes apply to all Close AM and Wide AM cents, whether rare or not.

Wow I never realized this. I thought all LMC's from 1989 on had the serifs on the FG. Learned something new today
At least one good thing came out of this ebay listing.

@Spruett Thanks for the graphic. The "M" spacing is usually the first thing I look for. This is a dead giveaway for me.

Unfortunately I haven't had to look any farther than that as I have never found any where the M's were even close on the CAM or WAM errors. Still looking though.

I had a quick look--a big NOPE! I think some people just aren't good with details--and you have to know the difference. Apparently those bidding aren't good at details either--let's see how high bidding gets.

I see a lot of interest in LMC regarding Close AM and Far AM cents. Which dates to save?

Is there any info regarding the good or bad or MM1s that are worth searching?

I have coffee cans of LMC 59 to 82 copper, 83 to Shield cents.

No counting the 4 to 5000 wheat cents

Any help will be nice

Gary
