Hello Numismatists!
Glad to be here! A long time ago my Dad gave me a few Morgans, ungraded. He told me to save them, "some day they'd be worth something..." OK, I did, for years- until the housing collapse, I NEEDED CASH, sold everything I had to coin shops. wasn't, isn't that everybody's story?
Now I'm back:
Scouring pawn shops recently I saw a few Morgans I liked, good dates, great mintages, and so I bought a few, especially because these shops had some very old stickers on fairly rare mintages. Same old prices, too," been sitting there a long time" and now the guy wanted to move them, 20% off listed prices.
So I bought a bunch of them - 2 x at $175, CCs, and think I got lucky. So I joined and sent 27 away to NGC for grading... (Look, this time I'm holding on to them!)
we'll see-
Also purchased 3 1900 Liberty head PCGS MS63 $20, and plan on getting a few more. -Darn, those graded ones cost, but as Tomaska stated, 'beyond the bullion value, right now the multiples on rare graded coins are low,' good time to invest.
Found an AU 1943 50c Liberty walking... $12 bucks! Beautiful.
I love these coins, St. Gaudens next.
Ok, now to the real paper pros out there, (also from long ago) I have very crisp, clean uncirc'd 1912 Imperialist Russian 500 Rubles, 29 unfolded bills. So beautiful, big, (is THAT how Tzar Petr looked, really? ) Three have slight tiny discolor spots, 2 have a little tiny corner crease. some are sequenced serial # in red, ' r b 035651' signatures looks like "MWummmk" in italics cursive, LOL! and below "@Mecandt B" or something Russian like that... Very Beautiful Notes!
also ( 1 ) "91X 1944" 100 Rubles note."CTO NEBA" whatever that is! Not into Paper Notes, so, what to do? Are these worth ANYTHING?
1 Bring into my reputable coin dealer and trade notes for store credit on coins? Yeah?
2 Sell on
ebay with high res photowork, etc. Tedious, are these worth anything?
3 Give 'em to family members as re ally cool looking double sided frames Xmas presents (again...)
I appreciate your help, sending me somewhere to look at crisp Imperialist 500 Ruble notes, Thanks QDP
