Greetings,

Like many others, I've come into possession of a large and diverse coin collection from my grandparents, due to the recent and unfortunate loss of my father. Looking forward to collaborations from this forum.

Sorry about your father, that's hard. Anything we can do to help figure out what you have and where you go with it, here's the place. Looking forward to your posts and questions.

Thanks to all for the condolences!

One of the first things I'm looking to do, if only to help me narrow the scope of the work in front of me, is offload some of the "bulk". I have 2 bins of wheat pennies from the 40's and 50's that amount to about 18,000 in number. All were meticulously packaged by my grandparents in tin foil and 25 cent rolls, labeled and graded. I've reached out to 3 local dealers, and only 1 has responded with an offer to purchase the entire set for 2 cents per coin. I know enough to realize a ton of work is involved in moving these coins, but I just know if 2 cents per coin is fair of not. Any thoughts?

Thanks, NHcoinster

2 cents ? no I would not give them away for that cheap. but it also depends on how common the dates you have are. but if it were me I wouldn't sell them for 2 cents per

Thanks for that feedback "crazyforATB". On one hand, I realize that I can't allow my sentimental feelings for the care my grandparents put into those coins to overwhelm the actual value of the collection. And I also realize I can't expect to get Red Book values for them. But heck at that price, might as well just go dump them all into a coin exchange bin at the grocery store.

Thanks again...
