OK, so at first I had a Dansco to hold my Lincolns. I went with Dansco because I heard they are great protection for BU Red, copper coins. I was very pleased with Dansco's build quality.. but aesthetically I didn't like the beige color.

So I decided to try a Whitman Classic. I like the blue but quite frankly the build quality sucks. The plastic inserts get snagged and tear the paper, and some of the holes don't hold the coins so well.

I'm considering going back to Dansco because I can certainly live with the brown/beige color combo.

But what are some other choices out there? Here's what I'm looking for.

Priority 1: Protection. Particularly something that will hold the red on BU Red Lincolns.

Priority 2: Build quality.

Priority 3: Pleasing aesthetics.

USAP, for me Dansco seems to be the best. I do not find them unattractive. My biggest complaint is that the plastic sheet covers seem to scratch very quickly and that detracts from the coin.

I have been using Dansco for almost 25 years now, I have had nothing but a good experience with them.

The Littleton and The Intercept Shield albums are green, but I am not sure about their quality since I have never used them.

Another option would be an Air-Tite album or something similar to that.

Littleton albums have green covers with grey pages. My main complaint about them though is that they are not post bound like Dansco albums, they are a ring binder style so the pages do not turn so smoothly. However, this is only a personal preference for me and I only own 2 Littleton albums and they are both 2 pagers so that might contribute to the lack of smoothness in page turning since there is so much extra room on the rings. Other than that, they have held up well for me(I have had them for about 4 years).

For me Littleton Albums just are to ugly and non versitile. I mean you can not just do with them as you want. Also, to small in height.
Intercept Shield Albums are SUPPOSEDLY the best for coin protection from what many dealers I know tell me but availability is very, very limited. Very expensive and also ugly colors.
I like the rather expensive looks of Dansco Albums but not sure why but I've found many variations to their colors and texture appearances which if your putting them on display, it is noticable.
Now Dansco Albums are higher, deeper and stronger made than most others. Appear to take more abuse if you have kids around. A dog can do damage regardless of the brand. Unfortunately when I built a storage room full of shelves I based them on close tolerances in height per the Whitman Classic Albums now in use and the Dansco's just wouldn't fit.
My contacts with numersous coin dealers at coin shows makes it easy for me to accumulate coin Albums either free or for a moderately low cost. One dealer recently gave me hundreds of Albums free. I kept almost all the Whitman Classics and gave the rest to others I know that collect coins.
I like Whitman Classic Albums due to many reasons. One I already have well over 100 of them and it would be a horrible mess attempting to move that many coins and at my age I'd never finish in time. I like the avaiability of additional pages and easy to install. Example is my 10 Lincoln Cent Albums all have from 1909 to present with lots of room left for future coins. At my age not much interest in future coins anyway. Pages can be purchased blank for all denominations possible. They usually come with the words on top such as Dime. You can buy date, letters, number gold colored rub off sheets from Whitman to add any info you want. You can buy blank covers and make your own albums. The bad thing about them is they are truely cheaply made. As you place the plastic sheets in the pages usually get ripped. As you turn the pages the part you turn also gets ripped easily. I'm afraid to put my hands to my mouth when working with them due to I think they are made in China and who knows the pages may be made of Lead.

That is exactly my complaint with Whitman Classic. And when the quality of the craftsmanship is so poor it makes me worry about the quality of the materials. The Dansco quality is just far superior, without question.

Have you thumbed through an Intercept Shield album? And if so did you get an impression of the craftsmanship quality?

At this point I'm leaning toward Dansco. I'm primarily concerned with keeping my bright red cents from turning, and perhaps Dansco can do the job adequately.

I noticed on the Intercept website they provide lab test comparisons vs. competitors. But what struck me is they don't list who they are.

http://www.interceptshield.com/technology.html

1. Intercept Album, multipage book with clear plastic covered slot and an outer cover with Intercept Technology throughout the book.
2. Sample X Album, similar to 1, different vendor, no Intercept
3. Sample Y Album, similar to 1, different vendor, no Intercept

Why not list them by name? I don't think there's any law prohibiting it. For all I know they could have compared their product to some fly-by-night brand name nobody has ever heard of.

There may not be a law prohibiting it, but I wonder if their legal team nixed it to play it safe, as often is the case when product testing is done in-house.

I do not put too much stock in their claims. I am not saying that I think they are wrong, but IMHO, only a non-biased, third party should be trusted with any product performance comparisons.
