Anyone have any suggestions as to what is going
on with this coin. Is it Die Deterioration?

I don't see Die Deterioration Doubling. Maybe Machine Doubling? I can't really tell from the images provided. Have you compared to the listings on copper coins? I believe they have an obverse doubled die listed for 1980.

Thank you Druu, I will have to check it out. Just looked so puzzling to me. I'll try to get better pictures, maybe that will be helpful.
Rest in Peace

Boy, it was a fooler at first, the date...0 in the 1 o'clock position is enlarged, sign of DDO. But...the upper 8 and 9 are skinny. Looking closer at 0, its wide because of a hit...many hits all over the coin in letters. No DDO, but good study example.

Not sure which parts you're puzzling over, can you point out what specifically you're uncertain about in these pictures? I'm no expert, but besides wear from circulation, I'm seeing what appears to be a combination of Mechanical Doubling and Die Deterioration, though I could certainly be wrong.

On 1980 I can't see anything but wear.

LIBERTY appears to have MD shelving on the T; looks like PMD spreading the B and R.

N GO of IN GOD looks to have some MD directed toward Lincoln. I might be imagining a slight Die Deterioration Doubling directed toward the rim.

I can't see anything unusual going on with WE.

Also not sure what you're seeing in the reverse pictures.

Not trying to dissect your post or anything; my intention is just to give specific feedback since there's a lot of stuff to look at. Hope that's helpful to generate some discussion, but please elaborate on what you are looking at. =)

Thank you guys. No, I really do appreciate the feedback. I'm not a pro with this and when I see something like with the we, I could see something at the bottom of the w that looked to me like a possible doubled something. In a few areas I question a possible hit, and I wondered about detereation. I was confused and hoped someone would shed some light which you kindly did. Thank you for your help

Also thank you Crazyb0 for your help. It's interesting learning those things with the date. I never knew about that before tonight. Thank you.
