So I went to IKEA today to pick up the Jansjo lights and they were reduced to 9.99! Decided to grab a white paper box (4 bucks) and I now have a "setup". Not too shabby for just starting out. Here's a shot of the box and an 1887 Morgan. Tried with just a white background, but wasn't too happy with the results. Found the paper in my kids art supplies for school... Need to find a piece of 18% gray as recommended in other posts. Also wrapped the lights with tissue paper for a bit of diffusion.
The 18% gray paper can be found on the bay. These pics are not bad but you need to practice. Looks like a few hot spots and an overall washed out look, note I am not a pro. John1
John1, absolutely agree, I need to practice, adjust the angle/distance, and figure out the best way to get the light a bit softer. (Also not a pro). I'll work some more at it and post results... thanks for the input!
