I bought this coin earlier today for about $1.5 (it was a bargain bin find).

When buying, I thought it was from 15th or 16th century Netherlands (or Belgium) - and hoped that maybe it was one of those dated 15th century types (which was admittedly unlikely) - but I wasn't able to find this particular type on Numista (though many were similar).

I still believe it to be from this region and time period (though probably not dated), but I'm not entirely sure even of that part, and I couldn't identify it any further - so now I'm asking for your opinions!

Sorry for the crappy pics, still the same smartphone camera could try to take better photos of some areas if needed (note: might not necessarily work).

I believe the design on the first photo to be a horse and rider (originally I mistook it for a lion, but now I don't think it's that).
That thing in the shield on the second pic is probably a lion though

Any ideas? I really don't know how to progress further.

Tough one. Like you I'm finding a bunch that are similar, especially Willem IV and Karel van Egmond, but no legend matches. Certainly a rider on horseback, holding sword (visible upper left) for obverse, and cross/shield reverse. Similar iconography here:

I tried my best to look for it, searched all over the place at Google, didn't help...

...then I had the bright idea of putting the denomination (which I did figure out) into Numista search, and immediately found the match. Turns out it's actually early 17th century.

I didn't find it the first time I checked because I was mostly looking for coins with lions (and must have skipped over this one), and I didn't find it the second time because it was a bit too large (my example was only 23 mm across - maybe it got slightly clipped).

But thanks for the research, anyway!

[EDIT: and this one might well be an obverse die match. But I'm counting the Numista page as a match anyway.]
