Coin World - New regulations for the redemption of mutilated United States coins still have not been developed and put into effect by the United States Mint.

Will we still be able to redeem waffled counterfeit half dollars at 50 cents on the half dollar?

;)

The only thing I can add (or detract) is he said Zincolns were introduced in 1983 when it was actually 1982.

That aside, the current composition of U.S. cents is deplorable. I have a WWII-era German iron coin that has held up better than a 2000 or later Zincoln!

What gives?

Redeeming the decomposing Zincolns is a pittance compared to the reported fraud by overseas "recyclers".

The penny is worthless by itself and only has purchasing power in large quantities, elimination of this program is not going to adversely affect honest business.
