Coin weighs 26.3 grams, 38 mm wide, 2mm thick with the correct edge on the coin (or so it appears). Is this a contemporary counterfeit or an authentic coin from 1776? swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 03/28/2017 8:00 pm The die styles appear correct. From what I can see the edge looks pretty good. There are no clues that I can see that would indicate a counterfeit. I would suggest a Specific Gravity test or an XRF confirmation of gold in the silver to confirm age. Report this Post to the Staff
