It looks like lamination from a distance but not so much up close. Would like your opinions please . The whole nickel has a matte finish not sure why .

I don't think it's a lamination error. The area in question leads directly into Jefferson's collar and it shows essentially no effect.

There's something there on the collar but, it may just be hits. The line separating the collar front and the field seems normal and quite strong.

I'm certainly no expert but, I believe that points to a die problem and not a planchet problem.

The marks that Crazyb0 pointed out look like die gouges ( Feeder Finger Damage).
