Hey, I've come across a small collection of coins I want to sell. Does anyone have any tips to sell them locally to get the best deal? This is the first lot, I'm not sure how to estimate value other than what's written on the holders. There are a few potentially good ones in the box as well... nothing quite as good as a 1600's UNC Polish Thaler but hopefully something good. I need your help finding the gems!

Wow! The prices on all of them are quite low. You can always post in the Buy-Sell-Trade section of CCF and find someone that would like your coins. For the US coins, here are my values, for retail: 1854 25c: $15 1869 50c: $30 1853 50c: $18 1855 O 50c: $22 1858 1C: $8 1836 1/2 10c: $25 1877 S 25c: $15 1861 O 50C: $15 1876 25C: I don't know, it looks like it has been plugged. I don't know about the foreign either. Please post more pictures, and I would (probably) be happy to evaluate them for you!

to the CCF Family! My suggestion before selling anything is research your items yourself. The Internet is your research friend. Visit local coin shops and get an idea what your coins are worth. Do not sell anything until YOU are satisfied that you are receiving a fair price. The key to selling is to know what you have, what it is worth and what you can expect to receive for it. Do not get in a big hurry. Take your time and do it right. Good luck!

to CCF. You can't B/S/T here on CCF until you have at least 50 posts, please read the rules. You need to find out the value of your coins and then try and sell them. ebay,Craigs List,LCS, local paper, coin club etc. Here is a link to values http://www.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices/fmv.shtmlJohn1

Thanks for the welcome! :-)
I know I can't sell here, but I can ask for values, no? I've listed them on craigslist and this guy is offering me $100 for the lot.
He was telling me a bunch of what in my mind is red flag type stuff. Like how there not certified, hard to sell, the dates are rubbed off, etc... really hard lowball tactic stuff. So naturally I countered with $500 lol
Thank you very much coinlover1889! I was researching the bust dime and it seems the book on it is $62 at the lowest grade. What are the most realistic places to find values? I will get better pics up here shortly.

You found this box? Well if indeed you found it all, why worry about the highest amount of a sale. Just sell for whatever you can.

Quote: I know I can't sell here, but I can ask for values, no? Correct. No harm in that. I will first suggest you take a look at NumisMedia for prices. You can start with the grades on the holders, but you should also learn to assess the grade yourself. One thing you can do for now is assume those grades are high and look at the price listed one grade lower. This will at least give you an idea. A second idea is as John1 suggested, which is to look at completed sales on ebay. This will give you a more accurate idea of what people are actually paying.

Based on what I've seen on ebay, I would conservatively estimate $130 in value there. I would not sell below $120

You are correct, but don't expect to always get what "the book" says, sometimes it may be way low, and sometimes it can be way high. However, in this case, the book is a tad high, (and my first valuation was a little low) so I would now expect (after more thought) that you could get around $45-$55.
