Hi guys. I received a lovely little souvenir from my grandmother not long ago and I can't manage to find a similar set anywhere.

I manage to find the exact same coins sold seperatly but couldn't find them in a set like mine. It seems to be the original case and it's very well preserved.

Here are the pictures of it. Can any of you help me learn more about it?

First to the forum.

These appear to be trade tokens (not technically coins or dollars) that are available at the annual K-W Oktoberfest (obviously).

Nice looking presentation. What further information are you looking for? I'd expect these to be base metal and not worth much other than as a personal keepsake.

added: some information here http://www.coinsandcanada.com/token...rfest&id=855

It seems there are some silver versions of some years (though yours don't look silver). Use a magnet and gently hold it near each coin. If it's non magnetic, it could be silver and thus worth more. If it's magnetic, it's likely nickel or steel and thus worth about a $1 in perfect condition.

Thank you for your response.

I have seen the website's information before so I know a bit about the coins.

I did a magnet test like you suggested and all but one reacted to the magnet so my guess is that they are probably nickel. (thanks for the tip, I didn't know about it.)

What intrigued me was mostly it's presentation. I've been looking around for similar presentation but couldn't find one so it peeked my interest.

You could try asking Colonial Acres https://www.colonialacres.com/ a LCS located in Waterloo. I believe the guys that own it grew up in KW so my guess is they would probably have quite a bit of info on those trade tokens. I have a couple of the silver ones and they are fun items to have.
good luck

Yes, you certainly have yourself a nice starter set of K-W Trade dollars. The festival celebrates it's 50th anniversary in 2018 so it would be real cool to have some sort of tangible commemorative.

Municipal Trade Token collecting is a popular theme for many collectors who then try to narrow the vast number to a particular theme or region.

Updated catalogues are very hard to come by most cities and towns no longer issuing any new pieces on a regular basis. https://zwiggystradetokens.com/
