By way of thanks for the invaluable pointers that many of you gave last week, this coin has been treated with olive oil, lemon juice and a brand spanking new, 25p, toothbrush.



As per previous comments on the coin, it seems to be Maximinus I Thrax, AE38 of Ephesus, Ionia. 235-238 AD. But the obverse is in a terrible condition and I can't make anything more than the chin and cloak out ... a loupe seems to just make identification harder!
