I recently bought a 1934 quarter with heavy motto. No doubt about it. It exactly matched the image in the RedBook. Try as I might, I can't seem to find a light motto quarter which matches the image in the RedBook. What am I missing?

The principle difference appears to be the position of the "E" in "WE" In the heavy motto, the base of the E extends below the bottom of the W and in the light, it does not. Seems simple.

Yet no light motto I have shown shows the bottom of the E above the bottom of the W..

Any thoughts?

From what I've learned the light motto 34 Quarter is the hardest one to come by . Not only are the letters in GWT thinner than the heavy motto but it's like a weak strike just on the motto . I have yet to come across one .

(I had this image prepared for some time and now it is just asked about. how about that?)

While I question that this is just an issue of die wear/polishing/grease fill issue, it was listed and slabbed. The master hub creates the master die, and how it would be different seems to me to be a die issue, not a design issue.

Coop, The header on the photo should state "Obverses" instead of "Reverses"?
