This is the coin that broke with tradition and set the pattern for 400+ years of imperial coinage. Minted shortly before his death, it depicts a beautiful portrait bust of the man himself, and a striking Venus reverse. This is a humble VF and it does have a banker's mark, but it is still special to me. I purchased it from a dealer who is also a member of another ancient coins forum, for quite a decent price. The Caesarians. Julius Caesar. January-February 44 BC. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.9 g, 9h). Rome mint. L. Aemilius Buca, moneyer. For now, I'm going to have to stick with my AE coin. Its off centered and porous but there's a decent bust and you can make out some of the legend! On the plus side...I picked it up for pocket change. Octavian and Divus Julius Caesar, 38 BC Æ (30 mm , 12,16 g) Southern Italian mint.
