Well I wouldn't feel complete unless I got unceremoniously tossed from a Facebook group for calling out a fake !
In this case it appears my crime (lese majeste) was in pointing out that a Philip II tetradrachm being offered by a very impotent person (Chip) was a die match to a fake previously shown on this forum.
The response was immediate !
How dare I lend credence to a known group of decievers and charlatans as CCF !
The adjectives used would only bore the readers so I will not dwell on them.
But our readers should be advised (once again !) that there exists an alternate world on the internet where people gleefully buy and sell fake coins to the unwary collectors.
"Nuff sed"

I leave you with the pics
I can no longer provide more as I have been given the heave ho !
Thank you Chip G !
You made my day complete ......

Such a deal !

Well, to be fair, we are kind of unsavory. I know I wouldn't trust me.

It's a shame that others think so poorly of us, but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. IMO this coin screams fake which doesn't leave much credence to the experts from the other group.

I measure the opinion by the one giving it.
If someone selling a fake wants to call me a skunk
(the actual term used was 4 letters long and can be conveyed by the common phrase "see you next Tuesday")
I take it as a high honor !
No nobler cause than pointing out a thief in the very act of trying to swindle the unsuspecting.
These closed Facebook groups are formed by people who pretend to be high minded and altruistic.
Why pay more ? They might ask. We have everything you need right here.
And as many as you want !

I only wish I had taken more time in responding to the foolish questions Mssr Chip asked.
I might have saved at least one innocent.
As it was I was banished within minutes .....

My work is done today
Time to rest

Happy Easter to all !!!
Belonging to an Eastern Church I can't help notice we have the rare event of actual agreement between the 'Gregorian' and 'Julian' formulas
It seems even the Judaeans joined in too !
Happy Passover !

Well good work @FR. I see the same die break at 6 o'clock on the obv, but to be honest my eyes are not sophisticated enough to see much about Chip's coin that I would have considered questionable. Glad to have you folks on my side!

I hope this link is allowed, my apologies in advance if not.

I did experience the " ignore the facts " clique on a site called Numista myself last year, truly mind blowing.

I feel your pain FR, I really do

I am the first to admit how easily I can be fooled by quality fake silver coins !
Which is why I generally shy away from silver.

But there are things to look for. I first noticed the rough surfaces on the horses body.
They seemed strange. I generally don't google these things but just for larks I did.
First thing I noticed about the ones pictured was the tail. The tail here is rendered as a slender line.
The legit ones I found pictured were thick.
Hmmmm I wondered. Let's modify the search from Philip II teradrachm to "Fake Philip II tetradrachm".
Boom there it was around 5 images down. A die match provided courtesy of a CCF post.
Now when asked my source I should have been evasive but that is not my nature. So I replied "CCF".
There began the diatribe about those unsavory doubters who are (literally) ruining the hobby.
How dare I !

A true scoundrel will always act like they have been wronged.
Dead giveaway.
If I had someone show me something like that my response would be ........
Gott im Himmel ! Zut Alors !
Thank you !
Not you are a ........

Selling counterfeit coins as authentic is detrimental to collecting community, especially to young and inexperienced.

These sellers are low lifes who are stealing money right under your feet.
