Hi all,

I picked up this Half Cent today at my LCS. The coin appears to be in nice condition. I am fairly new to early coppers and would appreciate my fellow members more educated opinions. I picked the coin up for my 7070, but the more I look at the coin, the more I am considering submitting the coin for grading. The coin seems to be well struck and I am guessing the die was freshly polished due to the reflective fields, but I could be way off on that observation, so any feedback and obaervations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

That one looks weird. The surfaces look like they are trying to emulate luster, but they just look "off." Not to mention the weird color.

AU details, cleaned?

can you give us pics using natural lighting as there is too much reflective light to see the surfaces properly. cant tell whether the surfaces are original or not with these ones

Agree better pics would help. This golden color definitely doesn't look right.

Here are some additional photos. I did my best to get pics showing the "true" color of the coin. The coin in hand appears to have a chocolate brown rim, with fields showing olive green that moves more to a light blue towards the bust. I really have no idea what is up with the tonning. I am new to collecting pre-IHC cents, so my knowledge base is limited. I purchased the coin for a fair price and it looks great in the Dansco, so I am happy with the coin regardless. I hope the additional photos help, and as always, thanks for any insight you all may provide.

time may darken it up some but the surfaces do not look original. why would any one mess with a coin like this is beyond me. still nicely struck

The color is strange and not natural. These coins should be brown, Red and Brown or Red.

Here are a couple of examples.

This one is Brown.
