Notwithstanding what the reverse looks like, the obverse looks circulated. I would say au55. At first I thought it was weakly struck bc of the flat spots in the hair, but the rest of the devices, especially the lips are razor sharp. It is a shame bc the cheek is so clean, and this would be a gem if it were unc.

I am hoping for an 'S' on the other side.

I am not an expert at all with these or any US issues at that..But I want to stick my neck out here and say it ain't an S, it is a P...The reason I say that is because I think it is a proof strike..I'm not sure why..I just thought "proof" when I saw it.

Oops the original auction link is no longer active so can't paste the reverse but this one graded Proof-66 (PCGS). CAC. no mint mark. Blue Moon Collection. ~$8100.

I can see it as a proof due to certain well struck areas, but the hair above the ear and other parts of the hair look too flat to be a 66 to me.
