1985 Penny Long Raised Line. Error?

mail187man Valued Member United States 265 Posts	Posted 04/22/2017 3:41 pm I found this penny and you can see it going through most of the coin. It is raised up from the surface as well. Also notice that it doesn't affect the date at all. Is this a type of error? Report this Post to the Staff

Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 04/22/2017 4:45 pm It's what is called a linear plating bubble. Gas has been trapped between the copper layer and zinc blank. If you press hard it will most likely collapse. looks too wide for a die crack. Report this Post to the Staff
