Hi all,
I've come across an 1808 eight reales with diagonal lines over halve the lenght of its edge. I am wondering if this is the kind of lines that swamperbob referred to as an indication of a counterfeit. I also seem to be able to find only one overlap of the edge pattern:

I performed a magnet and ring test and those were very convincing for silver. I do see some little blobs on the cheeck bone and upper eyelid and also a little splurge over the forehead:

Blobs like these are tell tale signs of a cast die transfer process. Most of these are usually good weight 26-27 grams but the one overlap is another bad sign. If I see casting bubbles I immediately pass ... regardless of anything else but I always carry an electronic scale of $25. But usually on these high end Chinese fakes this may not help. In short ... PASS ... IMO.
