I have been collecting for a long time - and have created my own database for my collection - While I know there are programs out there that can help you track your collection - I've found that they were too restrictive - or were just lacking. So many years ago I made my own database - with various options that allow me to view individual notes, find missing notes (since I add production info) - and just provide an easy way to summarize my collection. So just wanted find out what others are using! Here is a sample screen from my system:

Wow! Very impressive. How do account for fluctuations in pricing over the many years with your "Value of Collection" total?

rogerhst, impressive and thanks for sharing. Do you have a method for searching by Friedberg numbers?

I currently do not have a good method for linking a value source to my production information. Generally I pull the values of the key notes and update periodically. Many of my common notes have no value associated with them at all - so I know the value of the collection is low at this point. Every time I purchase new notes I enter the cost and value for those notes - but because I started collecting way back in the 1980s - I have so many notes that I just entered and scanned - and later added the value field.
Very interested in what others are using for their collections!

Hi Techwriter - I am new to the Friedberg numbering system - so currently - do not have this info in my database. I know it is crazy considering how long I've done this - but that numbering system just didn't make sense to me so long ago - and I've never followed up on it!

Don't feel bad; when I started collecting silver certificates they could still be redeemed for real silver and I knew less than zero about Friedberg. LOL

Very cool, rogerhst! And a big to CCF! I think you'll find most people here either use 3rd party collection tracking software or a spreadsheet. I'm one of the latter. I take the spreadsheet route for the reasons you have outlined above. I have a database and programming background and by all rights should build my own system, but ultimately have found the simple spreadsheet is the most flexible and efficient. Its only major drawback (IMO) was rectified with the advent of cloud-based file sharing solutions. By no means am I knocking your system there. It looks great and I'm sure it was a joy to create/maintain.

I use Currency Elite by Trove software which I very much endorse. But I hand input the FMV when I enter a purchase and then re-evaluate my inventory once a year or so - or more frequently if I spot an anomaly. to the CCF!

Coinfrog, is that cloud-based or a local application you run? From what I can tell from the web site, it's the latter.

Very nice setup, can you do coins with it as well?

I am sure I could - as I do have a coin collection - just need to take some time to do the same thing with them!
