Hi Lelah - try taking your pictures with a longer focal length; that should help you with the focus. And play with the lighting. That'll reduce the glare.
From what I see here, these are both of the CAM variety. Depending on the date of your coin, it could mean a bonus (1992) or not (1998-2000).
Good luck on the hunt!

They do both appear to be Close AM. The glare on the left coin may be tricking me.

Okay here's the two separated. These are both 1999 D LMC. Now the reason I was asking about these. Is because the initials look different. The thickness and also how close they are to the building. Am I wrong?

Actually, in the new pics, they look more similar than in the first one. I can also now see the other markers that point to Close AM. As far as the initials, whether the G has serifs or not is a more clear way to distinguish them than positioning. As far as I know, Close AM Gs are sans serif whereas Wide AM Gs have serifs. A cropped image by Thulium ( Wide AM on top, Close AM on bottom):

I guess I have been looking at pennies to long today. I was messing with my eyes. Thank you for that.

I'll admit that I was fooled by the first picture. The space between the initials and the memorial is noticeably different. However, hearing that it's a Denver coin makes it conclusively a CAM. There cannot be a WAM reverse from Denver because Denver made their own dies and would not have accidentally used a proof reverse.

OK. I'm confused here. I was looking at the pictures above regarding the initials, with the serif and without, and how close or apart they are. The initials on this 2004 D penny look like a Wide AM. But the A and M are touching.

It looks like the initial are too far away from the base of the memorial to be a WAM reverse. The CAM/WAM reverses are only are cents minted in Philadelphia or San Francisco. WAM cents are the normal proof reverses, and CAM cents are the normal circulation strike reverse.

That's a Close AM (normal). Notice the lack of serifs and the centerline of the G is past the end of the Memorial.

No problem. You'll get it. The whole CAM/WAM thing is fairly confusing as to what to look for on proof vs. business and what is rare in what year for those. Don't hesitate to ask about one in the future. We're all here to help each other learn!
