Hi,

This one is really nice except is has one tiny whitish-brownish spot on the cheek. I have no idea what it is or how it could affect value.

On the flip side, it's really nice except for those "watermarks" (What are those, anyway?) on the right and the slight scuff marks you can see easily when magnified 20x...

What grade do you think this one should be?

Thanks for your help!

Are you sure that's a blue Ike. I don't know much about the details of this series, but that looks kind of proof-like to me,. In which case it would be a brown Ike.

The "watermarks" are likely just that: some aqueous droplets that found their way to the coin and evaporated, leaving a bit of residue. Could have happened before packaging or after.

Don't know about the scuffs. There are some hardcore (jbuck, et al.) Ike lovers around who can set you straight.

Are you sure they are not milk spots? Milk spots are struck right into the coin.

The fields do not look mirrored enough to me for it to be a proof.

A grade based on existing photos, subject to change with new evidence.

That reverse is a little scruffy up close, maybe from its time in the packaging. I zoom out on the image to get it "actual size" on the screen and the eye appeal is not that bad, except on spot on the reverse still stands out.

Thanks! I tried taking better pictures in ambient light, still not great... Will retake pics when I have a better setup. (I'm in the process of moving, when "triped" over (and into) my coin collection... for a week...!)

The pictures are not that bad when it comes to showing the coin. It is just that seeing the differences between each of the MS grade points requires more. I certainly could not have done any better.
