First thought this was a lamination peel but looks more like a gouge from something Thoughts?

It looks like a lamination peel to me. If it were a gouge, I wouldn't expect to see the letters remaining.

That's a possibility but, the section of the peel that is retained should be a lot more flat in that case, I think.
