Hello Dammen und Herron

Are there any roll hunters out there who have found a 66 DDO? This rascal is driving me nuts. I spent 13 months looking to buy one somewhere, anywhere and have finally purchased an AU58 and an MS64 at auction. I'm ashamed to say what I paid so won't...however boy once you see one and the pups they are unmistakable. I have to admit this one in AU can get away from you unless you have seen one in hand. The book and pics help but one in hand has wired my brain sensors to the you of trust. On those late night coffee drinking roll hunt safaris I offer caution as really, this one is a minor die. I'm not giving up until I find every one ever made (smile) ok will settle for finding one. But it better be in MS60!

Has anyone found this bugger?

That looks like one to me, the you of trust is fuzzy but appears doubled to me. On AU the doubled eyelid is not discernible at MS you spot a thin line on top of the eyelid. The 66 of 1966 has a fattened, and twisted wavy appearence at AU. In MS you can discern serifs running along the 66. I think you got one. It looks like its worth the $16 for ANAC action, what do you think? If it is you have a good one there.

Hey still looking, did you send the 1966 DDO 101 off yet? Wanna trade that baby or sell it? I'm batty over the 1966 - 101.There worth 50 bucks when you want to sell one and then very suddenly the value jumps to 10x book when you try and buy.
L and C coins had an AU58 for $250 and greatcollections had 2 MS64 Reds one hammered at $457 in early March and the other went for $847. Regardless of what the pros grumble about I still think it is a kick in the overalls bad mama jama minor DDO. The one you showed has the pups man, you got a sweetie there. Do you think it might go MS 62 BRN? If so you got a 300 + dollar find.

Cool, these ones are hard to buy and even harder to find. Post some pics I'm chomping at the bits to see yours. Last year I had a crack at the 1966 Dr F'S-801 for 3 thousand on greatcollections I got cold feet hesitated and someone else got it. There was only one bidder and I bet their pleased with that baby. The 66 F'S-101 jumped to $700 in MS64 red this summer then went back to $600, if a MS 65 is slabbed it would bring nice money. These baby's have a low pop in any grade especially MS red and if you look at PCGS and NYC registrregistryalot of the pop are tied up in these sets. Although overshadowed by many better variety the 66 has always had a good premium and a certain allure to me. I own 5 of this rascals 2 reds, a RB, and 2 AU and love studying them. The difference in die state of the 5 I have seem to indicate many must have been minted? but apparently they like to hide. Hang on to yours their tough to locate. Mine get poohpooed by alto of variety collectors but for me its my favorite.

LuvmyCAM,
I have a 1966 penny, excellent condition. DDO FS-101 with some doubling around the front of face to top of head mainly. And has reverse doubling on pillars and one cent. Possibly also FS-801. If you are still looking let me know so I can send you pictures.
