I recently stumbled upon a 1955 coin, I have checked a bunch of websites and examined this coin for a few hours now and can't seem to detirmine whether or not it has a shoulder strap or no shoulder strap..

I can't get a picture as I need advice for taking pictures of coins, but as soon as I can get tips for coin photography I will post a photo

There are little niks and dings on the body, it looks a little worn in the head area where the crown is and there is a little ding right where the strap should be, but it is not in the shape of the straps I have observed on other coins and it does not extend fully as it is either worn down or the strap was never there in the first place

Can someone give me some tips/post pictures of other strapless 1c 1955 no shoulder straps

Thanks.

Hello and

It's hard to discern between SS and NSS coins because the strap is the first to wear from the coin.
The best way to tell is by the alignment of the "I" in DEI on the obverse. The NSS "I" should align between the denticles, and the serifs should be noticeably flared in contrast to the SS version. Here's an informative post where we discussed the differences with actual coin pics. The same diagnostic methods apply to 1953-55 cents.

After messing around with my old camera I came up with a photo

1955-1c-Shoulder/No-Shoulder-Strap

is it detailed enough or can you make the judgement?

My tentative take on this coin, due to the position of the "I" in DEI is that it's a shoulder strap variety. Of course, the pics are a little blurry. Take a look at that link and compare the position and serif style to the shoulder strap coin there...that should clinch it.

Hi Guy's

Looking at this coin and with the position of the ''I'' in dei I have to say this is a Shoulder Folded. To be a no Shoulder Fold the ''I'' should point between the denticles.
