The coin in question is on the left the one on the right is for comparison. Even though the coin on the left has less wear and better details it has no shine is this possibly missing the chrome layer?

With thanks to the jandm.com website Canada 5 cents..... Coins from 1943-1945 (Torch & V Design) weigh 4.54 grams, with a diameter of 21.3 mm (opposite corners) 20.9 mm (opposite sides) and a thickness of 1.7 mm. They have a composition of (1943-1944) .88 copper, .12 zinc (1944-1945) steel with .0127 mm plating of nickel and .0003 mm plating of chromium. Coins from 1946-1952 weigh 4.54 grams, with a diameter of 21.3 mm (opposite corners) 20.9 mm (opposite sides) and a thickness of 1.7 mm. They have a composition of .99 nickel.
So if no Chrome ...no missing chrome (chrome was used in again during the Korean war years (1953 & 1954)

You are quite correct! The coin is missing chrome! Amazing find, but the real gems are the ones with chrome from 1947!

At least you have a maple leaf and a plain, just need a dot and you'll have all the types for the year :)

Didn't ICCS stop grading no chromes because it could have the chrome removed ?

ICCS stopped grading no chrome as they messed up by grading manipulated coins. No more no less. Again, ICCS drops the ball as usual with no accountability.

1947 strikes were on normal nickel planchets... there would be no "missing Chrome" from 1947 or 1947 ML... looks like an environmentally toned coin to me.
