With the cold and the snow it looks like my hunting season has ended a little earlier that the past few years. Still, it was a good year with a little over 4700 coins dug. Time to dig the tumbler out.

Sounds like a great year. Have you had better ones? Do all of the coins require a tumbler for cleaning or am I misunderstaning the statement? Welcome and thanks for sharing! Mike

Welcome to our forum, Dockwalliper.

I don't know very much about metal-detecting (actually nothing). The mention of a "tumbler" scares me in conjunction with coins, though. Could you explain how this is used?

The tumbler is used at least by me more as a courtesy to the bank, the only coins that are tumbled are the clad that I intend to cash in .

I use nut shells , pecan or walnut as the abrasive agent with a little water and detergent.

Thanks all.
This was my best year total, Beat last years 4333.
I tumble the clad before I roll it and take it to the bank. Its a quick way to clean some pretty nasty coins. I try to use the procedes to add to my collection.
Aside from lots of Canadian stuff I dug 4 other foreign coins this year. 1 each from Australia, England,Mexico and Germany.
