As title states, I am new to coin collecting. I usually just toss my change in a jar for months and then as I go through to roll it I pull out anything with older dates, or any noticeable differences in appearance. Just a small hobby I've done since finding my first Wheat penny and figure something I can pass on to my son one day. I usually spend hours on Google after I find something but have come across a 1991 Jefferson nickel I've never seen before. Not sure if its just due to something it came in contact with during circulation, or if something else. Wondering if its a coin worth keeping due to the coloration and if its anything special, or just from something it was exposed to. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Please excuse the poor pictures. Could not get the camera to seem to focus too well.
Welcome to collecting. Just enjoy the process. I agree that the coin has probably been cleaned and perhaps circulated. You can find much better coins than this one so I would continue looking.
