Sorry, but it is - or was - a "pirate treasure coin", a replica of a Spanish colonial gold "doubloon" of the kind which you can buy in bulk from pirate-themed supplies stores. which someone buried, presumably as a game with their kids. The kids didn't find this one, and the salt water hasn't been kind to the pewter.
