Recently upgraded my Capped Bust & Liberty Seated quarters in my type set earlier this year so this makes my third quarter milestone of 2017. I'm on a roll! I remember as a teen collector salivating over the early types and thinking that I'd never be able to afford one. Now in adulthood it's a bit more attainable. Well I finally got an early quarter in my collection and although its not very high grade, I'm thrilled to own it. Edited by Joe2007 04/30/2017 11:39 pm

Congrats ... Looks great! I thought the same thing and for some of these early coins, I'm afraid it will stay that way but I am lucky enough to have an 1807 quarter maybe like yours. My only silver draped bust coin.

Where's the best on-line place(s) to go learn how to attribute Capped Bust quarters? I'm trying to know and 'see' a comparison of the differences between a B-1, B-2 & B-4 varieties of the 1828 Capped Bust quarter.

It's a wonderful coin. Don't worry about the grade--as long as it's attractive to you, that's all that matters! (And I agree with you about being a young collector--you never ever think you're going to be able get a coin like this--I call it the "1804 dollar design." But then you grow up and all of a sudden you have a few extra dollars to spend a nice gift for yourself.)

That site is a treasure trove of information but, more importantly, it has Browning's book available for viewing. It was published a long time ago but is still the main reference. Also, PCGS Coinfacts has the different varieties for this date. Just look up the date and click on the varieties line and you can click through the different ones.

Thanks chesterb for the referral to this attribution link entitled, 'Early Quarter Dollars of the United States 1796-1835' https://archive.org/details/earlyqu...doll0000awbrI think it's neat how the pages so smoothly flip/turn forward and backwards when clicked on. A true professional webmaster must have put this entire site together.
