Hi Iwannado, I tried to enlarge your pix but it got no clearer, cant tell difference. Heres a pix of the two different kinds of MM's used in the early 40's, there's actually a third one as well, a "small S" variety.

Possibly your coin took a hit to the top of the MM which flattened it?
