I was just looking around ebay, and found this nickel. I know ebay tends to have overpriced BIN's, but this just seems absurd. Is there a variety or something with the 1997-D nickels that could get the value somewhere close to $3249.00? Even an SMS I would think would max at about $1200 BIN.

The guy selling it can ASK anything he wants. Has no bearing as to the actual value of the coin.

It's just the ebay version of "Make me an offer," a perfectly acceptable selling method. They force you to put a price in so sellers put an inflated price.

That's what I figured. Just thought there may be some off the wall variety that actually has value. I guess he's a firm believer in the PT Barnum saying...

It's the top grade for FS coins for a 97-D and there are only 2 of them at PCGS. Top pop moderns especially with a population that low go for big bucks. Make an offer is on it but that should sell for big bucks barring the population increasing

Beefer!
It is a nice example and someone will buy it for a registry set perhaps someday.
But I don't think he will get anywhere near his asking price.

It will be a 4 figure coin as long as it is a pop 2/0
