Looks like a zinc coated cent. It was a normal copper plated coin and then it was plated again after it left the mint. Note the surface on the obverse? You can see where the zinc dust was plated with copper, then the second plating was added to make it look like an error. Youtube has videos on how this can be done. But it is not a shiny plating, that is why I feel it was doctored with a zinc coating. If it were a missing plating coin the surface would be smooth. This one is not:

Thank you for the quick response. It weighs 2.5 though a bit confused how that is possible.

It should weigh 2.5 grams and the plating would add very little.
