Why do some sellers on ebay say they will accept offers and then ignore you when you do make an offer? I can't stand this.

I have a best offer out on a coin lot. I put in an offer that was $5.00 less than the asking price. Asking price is %37.00. In my opinion my offer in not insulting as I have seen these lots sell between $30 and $35.

I put offer in on Friday afternoon. Well there is only a couple hours left to accept my offer and so far haven't heard a peep from the seller.

This is the 2nd time I have been ignored when making an offer.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Should I try to resubmit my offer when it expires hoping it is just the weekend that is causing the seller not to check his/her computer?

A little frustrated...Mont

It would be my guess the seller is either at a show or the shop only checks their ebay during business hours during the week
Rest in Peace

If the seller is a noobie the BO may have been an error.
Otherwise he doesn't like what you offered.

Friday afternoon and now it is Sunday. Sellers don't live on their computers. Will he take the offer I have no idea, but buyers need to be more aware of when they do what. There is no reason to rag on someone for not spending their weekend checking offers

I agree that sellers do not live on their computers.
But in today's era of Apps and Smart Phones...I think a person who wants to sell a coin and has asked for offers, should not allow offers to expire.

When I am selling stuff-- I can be at a pool on the beach and take five minutes between my drinks to check the ebay app for 5 minutes.

I sell-- and I will decline an offer as quickly as I can, in case they want to try again.

This is my thinking as well. I spent MANY years in sales. Most face to face, but some online. Weekends are big shopping days. Especially Fri afternoon and all day Sat.

Oh well If it is the weekend causing this, hopefully the seller will email me tomorrow and ask me to resubmit my offer. They have accepted other offers from buyers so I know they are open to it.

Thanks all for letting me vent a little this morning.

BO can sometimes be a mistake when the seller listed it. I agree they should not allow offers to expire, especially reasonable ones. Doing a BO means you are willing to negotiate and haggle. If you are not, you should not list it as BO
