I got my notice this afternoon. I ordered 2 of the silver dollar sets. My rep isn't too on the ball either. Had him for years but he never picks up the phone and rarely returns my calls. Would love to get a better rep. I'm literally $100 away from becoming Platinum Plus and having this rep benefit from doing basically nothing for me makes me a little perturbed.

Reps send out advanced notices according to the MC tiers. Prestige and Platinum Plus get them first, usually around midnight and them lower tiers a day or two later.
Canadian Coin & Currency still have stock of the Gold Loonie set for VIP members. For BC residents you can save 7% PST or $385 by ordering from them.

"There have been occasions in my later life (I suppose as in most lives) when I have felt for a time as if a thick curtain had fallen on all its interest and romance, to shut me out from anything save dull endurance any more." C. Dickens...Great Expectations...
I kicked off this thread...with such great anticipation of something far more than overpriced...overdone loonies as we approach Canada's 150th... Heck...its so lame of a release...that even those with reps got no advance notice...perhaps becuz the reps themselves are just as underwhelmed... I suppose we hold our breaths for July 1st.

As an avid Loon and dollar collector I'm hopeful that this doesn't happen again for a long time. It's been fun trying to collect one of everything with Canada Dollar on it but starting with the 2 Oz and 5 Oz coins and now the gold Loons it's starting to cut in to my toy fund money :( I have an addiction to shiny stuff and my OCD won't let me miss anything.
I went in to this year eyes wide open knowing that I was going to spend a ton on Canada 150 Dollars.
I tried to find the image a member on this forum designed a while back that could've saved me 3 grand lol. It was a combination of the Voyageurs and the Loon. It was a perfect fit for this year.
On second thought....had the Mint used his idea it might have cost me more because it could have been a three coin set $$$ ;)

It seems the anniversary of the loon falls this year, too bad it coinsides with Canada 150. My loonie collection will go up by 2, but only for 80.00. My Canada 150 budget just went down.
Can't wait to spend the rest for Canada day.
C'mon July 1st.

Very sad, no one (including me) didn't wait till the midnight and refreshed Mint and Dealers websites, to get new release populated.. So, the coins are here, on RCM website (according the mail) and CA. Was surprised to see South African Springbrook 1oz Silver bullion coin with the proof finish, mintage 15000 offered for..... CAD 300+ The name change to Krugerrand made all difference (the gold Krugerrand always was here, and the silver with similar design also was around named African Springbok) well...back to Canadian Someone loading something? Loonie set isn't bad Trains are always good theme for the fans 2 oz Woolf maybe (does it have some micro-picture in the eye?)

Anyone who watched the TSC coin show tonight likely heard Steve Bromberg mention he'll have at least two new coins on his Canada Day shows beginning June30th. He hinted that one of them was a Mint first....a puzzle coin. Not sure what that means but I wonder if it will look like anything this one....lol

Anyone else notice that the Mint is copying the aftermarket dealers with the 'Black Rhodium plated coins' and the 'puzzle coin'. Third parties have been adding these effects to Canadian coins for a year or two already.

Just an FYI, but Bromberg hinted that there will be a bunch of Canada150 coins coming out later this month too.
He also mentioned that there will be a special Queen's 'medal' coming. Just a guess, but Charles and Camilla will be in the Capital around Canada Day so I'd expect them to be involved in the unveiling.

Agree with falcon, very cool. CC-Ottawa, is that really wire edm'd into pieces? Might have to try it myself.

The two-loonie set arrived today. Nice and simple; no surprises or wow factor. Plenty of frosting, not a ton of detail.

Quote: The two-loonie set arrived today. Nice and simple; no surprises or wow factor. Plenty of frosting, not a ton of detail. Saw it in the CP in GTA... I liked the coins. Btw, always wondered, why our Loonie not nickel, when it "white", it looks much better. Presentation case isn't good - oversized compares the space required for 2 coins.

Checking the other forum and saw interesting detail: The RCM $2 rolls are highly popular, but people not buying them from RCM!! Looks like, if you have connections in the bank, you can order via them. One of the dealers had them for CAD 61+tax I found it expensive, but knowledgeable people ordering 20-50 of them. Looks like I missed good deal.
