I was looking through some of my random pennies at work today and noticed my 2001 D penny to have an extremely large pointed nose compared to any other penny I have, even several other 2001 pennies.

Welcome to the forum!! :)

When you uploaded these photos did you see the link option for the free image optimizer? Try uploading these photos again, but before you do use the optimizer and sharpen the image some.. start out with a little.. try like sharpen 100 then hit the apply button.. see if that takes some of the blur out of these photos.. it kind of looks like maybe a die break or die chip under the eye but very difficult to tell from these photos .. not sure about the nose... need to see some different images..

If you could get a hold of your wife's Nikon and take clear close-ups of his eye, that would be helpful. This area looks interesting.

No, that was a joke. I agree that better images would help when you get a chance but, at the most, I think there may be a die chip under the eye and some die polishing issues that makes the nose look like that.
