This would not be actual doubled die.. it is caused by splitting of outer coin layer .. I think they call it split plate doubling or something like that.. they were having trouble at the mint beginning in 1983 when they changed the cent planchet composition to mostly zinc with just a thin outer layer of copper... can't remember if its too much pressure or not enough pressure not enough copper platting .. anyhow something to do with a combination of those issues .. results in part of the copper plating peeling away.. very commonly seen above the rim lettering ... I know I have seen a ton of this in the 1983 cents..
