Hi guys,
I know nothing about coins; I collect antique religious medals. The images below are of a medallion(?) I acquired mixed in with a small lot of Catholic medals I purchased. It was black when I got it; it took hours of cleaning to get it as it is shown below.

I am clueless as to what it is, let alone what it means/its original purpose. I cannot find anything similar online, anywhere.
It's probabaly some replica from a RenFaire booth.

EDIT: I shoud add it is apx size of a .50 piece, (but oval) silver in color, and seems not to be made of a super hard metal. On the back one may see the irregularity of the solder, and there are fine details not visible in the photos, i.e, appears to be outline of tunic on the main figure, and under the "serpent", its bottom is "ridged" like a serpent's scales I think.

Many thanks!

I believe this is a Coptic amulet and could be quite old. Similar to this one:

Hm, interesting! The figure on the one you show has the weird "serpent feet"as mine does.
I hope to get more replies before I go to a dealer; I want to find out as much as I can.
What the heck the lettering on the back means...I hope someone can tell me.

EDIT:
A Coptic amulet depicting Abraxas. But misspelled on mine?
IAW a common inscription on these Gnostic amulets.

Do you fellas have any recommendations as to whom I may take or send photos of it to, for an appraisal? I have coin dealers of course in my city (Fort Wayne,IN) but I am thinking more of a someone who wouldn't have an interest in buying it from me to resell (therefore not being truthful as to its actual age/value) like a professor or scholar or collector?

The medal shown by echizento is written in a debased Greek script, and is something I would dearly like to own.
Yours however I think is no more than 40 years old, and probably made for the tourist industry. Sorry.
