Hi I have this uncirculated $5 commemorative silver coin of the first men on the moon 1989.I noticed what it seems to be an error in the date. looks to be a possible dropped letter or an additional nine added sideways.Would this make this coin worth any more then its going average price?

to CCF!
It's hard to make out. It looks to still be in its original plastic. Not sure if it will devalue it by removing it from that plastic wrapper they came in to take a better pic, but they aren't worth much anyway. I bought this same coin back in the 90's. It is actually made of copper nickel not silver. Here is a link to all of the commemorative Marshall Islands coins.

Looks like a plastic scuffle to me. If you remove the coin from the plastic you probably won't see any error.

But I'm about the opposite of an expert, so whatever.

Or potentially, could you just rotate the coin slightly within the plastic sleeve? That would let you know whether this extra stuff is on the coin or on the plastic.
