Hello. I had a couple of questions about my coin. Hopefully yall can help me out. Was the Copper 1943-S Penny plated only. The reason I was asking was I noticed a couple copper looking spots in my coin not sure if those were rust or copper. I found the coin outside in an old shop where I moved. Theyve always been on the coin ever since I found it about 10 years ago. Thank you for your time and thanks in advance

to CCF. The cent in 1943,P-D-S are zinc plated steel. Your coin looks like it has rust showing or some sort of substance on it. It is not the copper one. Your steel cent should weigh 2.7 grams and the copper 3.1 grams.

I concur, it looks like oxidation (rust).

I have a few that were Copper plated. At least those are worth more than a cent.
