can anyone point me in the direction of a good album that I can put my collection into, atm they are just in the plastic coin sleeves but my grandad said I can get one that has the mintage written underneath the coin.

where do I buy these from?

dansco is probably the most popular brand, whitman are a little cheaper but most people believe they are a inferior product. and there is also intercept shield which is a new product on the market and the most expensive. I would recommend staying away from the folders.

http://www.brent-krueger.com/ and http://valleycoin.com/ both seem to have pretty competitive prices, although I have yet to place an order from either one

Try a local coin dealer in your area. You are new to collecting so tell the dealer what you have and what you want to do. It is a good idea to build a relationship with a dealer if you want to buy coins in the future. And they are a great source of advice.

Until you have something worthwhile to put in an album, I wouldn't bother with one. I keep my coins in 2x2s and store them in a box. I used to keep them in the appropriate plastic sleeves, but I finished up with so many that space became a real problem, and at $1.50 a sleeve, very expensive.

I have a couple small numisco album that can be used to carry about to show off my coins. They cater for coins in 2x 2s. For the important ones, I have them in Dansco albums.

G'day, I respectfully agree with Yass: storage and display are important issues for collectors. But, it is easy to spend money on plastic & cardboard, that you'd rather be spending on coins.
Certainly, give your treasures the full treatment, but you'll find yourself becoming selective about which coins go into 2x2, etc.
The others: somewhere dry, where they can't rattle much.

Optima Albums with M12K sleeves are the go to put 2X2s in and alternatively the Lighthouse KR Box is good for 100 2x2s for storage
