Just received new catalogue from Downies for May. 2 new pad printed $1 coins featuring a wombat and a koala, $1 NCLT centenary of quarantine and $1 scout mint rolls. Also $5 silver proof Northern Territory.

While I am not in full agreement with the number of items coming from the mint these days, I do like the return to mint rolls for our commemorative circulation dollars.

And I am glad the mint has provided an easy way to tell where mint mark dollars were struck with their mintmark, privymark and countermark system.

I certain I've already posted this info, but can't find it so...

The Scouting $1 mint rolls will be avaiable from RAM on 1 May for $30 + postage. They should show up on the RAM on-line site on 1 May.

Downies are asking $35 + post. I doubt that Downies will have them any earlier than that, they just know they'll have them soon & are getting in early, so save yourself some money & buy from RAM.

life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

Should clarify that. I get the downies catalogue, but very rarely buy from them, only if I can't find what I am after elsewhere. Too expensive. However it is a good way to find out what is coming from the mint. Nancy is right, they are more than happy to take orders for stock they don't have. Speaking from experience.

I have recently had real problems attempting to order direct from the RAM
Any Australian coin collector is far better off buying new issues from their favourite dealer, support them as most probably the dealer has near pulled his hair out even securing his allocation from this very deceptive government owned money tree called RAM run by monkeys in upper management.
I have more respect for Downies than RAM at least Downies are friendly and HELPFUL when it comes to enquiries but also can see why they are not popular.Speaking from experience too

Personally, I would rather buy from ANYWHERE else but Downies! Long, LONG story, but basically they must be one of the most lax, careless and unprofessional organisations I have ever dealt with! Yes, theyre polite when you contact them and helpful when things are going to plan, but as soon as thing go awry, they very quickly become USELESS!

If RAM are worse than Downies, I shudder to think what its like!

RAM will not answer questions honestly, they use embargo excuse everytime...long story too.

Official RAM reseller/agent/dealers would know the story with them as they have to cop a government department trying to operate in a commercial world...exact words from a frustrated reseller

If you could filter out the Downies sales pitch such as sizzling, superb, must have, surprisingly, dynamic, outstanding opportunity, fantastic, imposing, immediate action required, compelling, shock release, crucial, impressive, sensational, magnificent, poignant, seldom offered, potential, sparked collector interest, affordable, innovative, etc etc etc in your brain then get sense out of them you are very persistive

My personal emails have usually got some sensethe ladies are ok
