I like P.I. coins from 1903 to 1946. Yesterday I checked an old hoard I had, looking for over mm. I noticed a mm that was decidedly different, and took pictures. Today I found another. I am posting pictures of the two coins with their different mm. Does anyone out there know anything about why two mm were used? The tall mm is the oddball. Thanks.
Nice catch! I have not seen this mentioned anywhere, but San Francisco did change mint marks halfway through 1944. I guess it would make sense for these to be impacted also.
Thanks for the info. I didn't realize SF had changed mintmarks, or that it might impact any other coins they made, though these are considered American coinage. I do appreciate your input.
