Is this considered to be an error? When there is too much ink used on the serial numbers and the serial number can be seen through the reverse is that considered an error?

Speaking of too much ink.. I've seen this on quite a few notes.. some much worse than others, but how does one single digit of the serial number get way over-inked? Are extreme examples of this considered to be an error and or collectible?

I don't believe it to be an error, but we will wait on the wise ones to give us the details. Although I have noticed the fact that 1 number is usually inked blotched over any other number, and it seems to always be the 3rd number. I am curious about that.

Funny you mention that, but I did not realize it.. Looking at all the ones I have here on my desk you are correct. Is the 3rd digit on all of them. I also find it odd that it affects both serial numbers on the notes that have it.. curious to know if this is an intentional security feature of some type.. seems that would be unlikely since it is not consistent on every note.. but only consistent in which digit of the serial number that it affects and that it affects both serial numbers ... hmmm

I don't believe this sort of thing is considered an error.

Not considered an error and is rather common.

Thank you.. so from what I'm hearing and seeing, it either has to be severely over-inked or double printed
