quote of quote made by KurtS ""China is probably innocent in this matter..."

Yes, hence my aversion to naming that country. Despite their forgery issues we complain about, that country produces a lot of legitimate products cheaply to our direct benefit. The deserve a lot of credit for what they've made for themselves. "

The only products that are made in Chinia that I can name now are the toys with LEAD paint.

Agreed, that was really bad judgment concerning subcontractors within China. But, if you can't think of any other China-made (and harmless) products, check out any clothing, electronics, or small-appliance store.

I understand some antipathy towards China, which I think is due less to "poison toys" than to their success as a manufacturing base for goods we consume. Some of this manufacturing was moved from the US to China as a cost-cutting decision by US companies. So I question the wisdom of hollowing out our manufacturing base for short-term goals vs. facing the challenge of making US goods better and more competitive on the global marketplace. Economic recovery will be more difficult as more industries have become outsourced.

Well, this is a coin forum after all...so I'll end my commentary.
