LCS has a bin full of modern proof coins in 2x2's for $1 to $5, so I decided to see what I could find...

How would you grade this 1972-S Washington quarter?

It has reddish gold peripheral toning on the obverse.

Well from what I can see I would give it MS 60/61 maybe as high as MS62 on a fantastic day! The strike of the obverse seems to be weak on certain areas especially on some of the letters In God We Trust. The black areas on the neck and chin are may be the results of early toning especially with the toning on the obverse. Not quite sure of markings on bottom of reverse and obverse areas of the coin.

I believe this is a proof-only coin. Id say PR- 67.

I'm on the fence between PF-65/66. Nice find!
