From my prior post about the clooged S on the PCGS PR67 coin I have, I pulled out my 1969Proof Set- and re-checked the cent- it also has a the clogged top of the s- so I proceeded to look at the other Mint Marks in the set and every coin in the set has a clogged upper portion of the S mint mark!

Pictures are attached for each S and each coin etc.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR 1969 PROOF SETS!!- anyonelse have these semi-clogged mint marks?

Maybe this is nothing , but then again, maybe it's something new!

If it is on the other 1969 denominations, then it would have to be a faulty mint mark punch.

Edit for clarity and typo: the mintmark was previously applied by hand to the coining die with a punch die. The punch would be used for all denominations. The most obvious example of this is the TI & TII mintmarks of the 1979 and 1981 proofs sets- the punches were changed in mid-production causing two distinct S mintmarks in each year.

Ditto Amacs.

I checked out three of my 69 proof sets and all the "S" are "clogged."
